Successful ECREA Gender and Communication Symposium at the URV

The Department of Communication Studies hosted the ECREA Gender and Communication Symposium "Media (in)visibility: Gender and sexual diversity in European popular media culture" on 16-17 October 2015. Researchers from around Europe from the ECREA gender and communication section gathered to discuss these issues in an enriching debate during two consecutive days.

The symposium started with a special guest star on Friday morning with the keynote "Only White Men: Serial Killing in European Cinema" addressed by Richard Dyer, who is a Professor of Film Studies at King's College London and Professorial Fellow in Film Studies at the University of St Andrews.

It was not all academic, though, the participants at the symposium had a tight cultural programme Friday night visiting one of Tarragona's human tower teams. This visit gave the attendees an enriching insight into Catalan culture and traditions.

Overall, it was a successful symposium for the participants as well as for the organizing committee. Here you have a full summary on what was discussed on Twitter during the two days.
